Lift ruined my jeep?
my jeep never made all these funky sounds until my rough country lift that is a 3.5 lift. It sounds like the rear end is falling out, lots of vibration, i just dont know anymore about this jeep. I have talked to a guy at a transmission shop that works on jeeps alot, his theory was get a sye and cv driveshaft and all that will disappear. So i guess im reaching out to you guys because im actually fed up with this damn jeep, its just not right anymore please help!!

Haha, welcome to club. Don't feel like 3.5" would need CV and dye, but always a good upgrade. Mine did noises, noticed I didn't tighten done areas that good. What all did you get with the kit?

Rough country doesn't make a 3.5" lift for the Xj (Cherokee). Do you have a zj, a grand Cherokee? Either way if with new springs you might be higher than 3". And when you lift a jeep there's always the risk of needing an sye. And what does a rear end falling out sound like? We just need specifics to help you out.

more than likely you prolly didn't tighten the u-joint straps for the rear driveshaft and now its bouncing around... or possibly your u-bolts on your axle aren't tight enough.
A good thing to do after any lift is drive it a few days then go back and re-tighten all hardware you played with while installing the lift. You dont need an SYE for 3" of lift, thats just being a little over prepared in my opinion for that small of a lift.
Just take an afternoon and completely look over everything associated with your rear axle, if everything is tight and solid and yes it still sounds like its falling out then i guess you have a problem

sure you u-joints are good? maybe one was questionable before the lift and now it magnified the issue? how about a bad drive shaft yoke? whats the driveshaft look like? could you have bent or dented it while working on it?
did you install a t-case drop? we just did a 3.5" lift on my sons xj, put a i think its a 1" drop on the t-case while we were doing it.. that thing goes down the road better then it did before the lift. no vibrating or rattles..

T case drop is a band aid , fix the drive line issue !
P S my lift had instructions and in those instructions it says drive rig 200-500 miles then retirque all fasteners .

I had the same problem. I have a rc 3 inch lift. You eitheir need to get a sye or drop the tcase a little and put a skid there. Or grind on the shaft(how mine was fixed) I also had to get an adjustable trac bar. Make sure everything is tght on those leafs

The PO of my '91 put a 3" RC lift on my XJ and I don't have any vibes or rattles (any more than a 22 year old vehicle should have). No TC drop, no SYE and no CV axle. I just wanted to say this to illustrate that all XJ's are different. I know this doesn't help the OP, but like was said, put a few miles on it and get it all broken in and settled, then go through and retorque everything.
