Loose steering wheel
Recently purchased 99 Cherokee. Has 3" front coil and rear add a leaf lift. Steering wheel seems kinds loose and not tight. Is this normal for jeep ?

Alright, since your lifted I moved this to Advanced Tech. Please watch what section you post in.
Now, please be more descriptive of your issue. A loose steering wheel could mean a few things.
Does the steering wheel feel like its not attached to the column?
Does the coulmn feel like it is not attached to the dash/firewall?
Or is the steering loose to where you can turn the wheel back and forth slightly and the front wheels do not turn?
No, none of these should be the case.

I didn't think you could be any more vague. Guess I was wrong.
I will assume you are talking about having 'play' in the steering, meaning you can slightly turn the wheel left to right with little to no reation from the front wheels.
No, this is not normal.
Check steering components. Tie rod ends, ball joints, steering box, steerong box spacer, etc.

I know it varies from vehicle to vehicle. In my 2000 XJ it is very tight, and my 1998 its a lot easier to turn the wheel. There is less resistance in my 98. Never questioned why.

probably a worn out steering box. you can tighten the sector shaft a little, and i mean a little. doing so will more than likely shorten the already short life left in the box and if you tighten it too much your steering wheel wont return to center by itself and it can lock up while you drive. i did it on my old jeep, i'd say it was worth it. i tightened it by 1/4" of a turn and that was probably too much.
