M.O.R.E. ARB compressor mount
Hello CF,
I have been looking for a place to mount the ARB on-board air compressor in my 1998 XJ.
My jeep came with ABS and the ABS unit under the hood is preventing me from mounting there...
I do not want to mount the compressor inside the cab, so for me under the seat is not an option.
With this all in mind, I did some looking around and found that M.O.R.E. has a mount for 95-06 TJs that mounts under the hood above the intake manifold. (images of the mount below).
I am wondering if anyone has used this bracket for an XJ? I know it will mount to the 4.0 intake manifold just like the TJ, but I am curious if there will be enough room for the hood to close.
Has anyone ever used this bracket on a XJ? If this will work it looks like the absolute best option me.
I called M.O.R.E. to see if they have test fit it for XJs also and they have not...
All comments are appreciated, Thanks!

I've never held that twin one in my hands, but from my understanding the ckma12 is bigger than the basic one that I have(cksa12). And the twin one is just 2 of the ckma12 put together. I think you're going to find that you either have to do away with some engine stuff like the oem air box, or put it inside.

What oem stuff getting in the way are you talking about? The only thing that would get in the way is the hood.
Wondering if you read my post in full, as I am not looking for alternate places to mount or remove the air-box. Just simply want to know if anyone has tried this bracket in an xj or not.
It looks like I will be the first to give it a shot. I am going to order one and see if I can make it work.
I will post my results next week once I have the bracket mount and hopefully installed.
Thanks.

What I said is the only way I see you fitting THAT compressor in the xj engine ANYWHERE is to move some oem stuff. My Spectre cowl intake hits my hood ever so slightly. And my small ARB compressor almost hits even with where it's at now.
Good luck and let us know how it goes though, I don't think there are any products to mount a compressor for the XJ, so if you find one that works again let us know!

Okay, but looking at the image of it installed on the TJ, it looks like it is only about as tall as the air filter tube/hose. Being that this mounts on its side laying flat over the intake manifold, makes me think it might work. The image installed on the TJ gives me hope... I am actually surprised M.O.R.E. Never test fit this on XJs.
My friend has a TJ I help work on all the time, and I can say for sure there's more space between engine and hood.

I had the same thought for the rugged ridge one, or whoever makes it; the one that attaches to the brake booster for jk's. It looked like I could fab it to work on an xj, but after playing around with the compressor once I had it in hand I realized there was no way the hood was going to close with it like that. My friend has a TJ I help work on all the time, and I can say for sure there's more space between engine and hood.
I just went outside and took some measurements after finding the size specs online for the ARB on-board air unit. It sits 4" tall, 7.5" wide, and 10.8" long. It sure will be close weather it fits or not.
Fingers crossed and thinking of other options just in case.

Why is the ABS unit still on there, surely you replaced the D35 with another differential without ABS. An air locker in a D35 would be a serious over estimation of it.

Edit: have not found the need yet to try and figure out how to remove the ABS unit and run new lines. If I can not mount this compressor anywhere I just might go for it. Know of a writeup by chance?

The Dana35 was replaced with a cherokee dana44 with ARB locker and disc brakes. No dana35 here.

I removed the ABS stuff from my 98 when I swapped in the d44. I just went to Napa and had them get me 2 non-ABS front lines, went to the junkyard and pulled a non-abs prop valve. Swapped the prop valve, hooked up the lines and removed all the ABS crap. Pull the fuses and you're good to go. The hardest part is running the new hard line from the prop valve to the passenger side.
