You seal it.
My TJ is matte black and olive drab. My XJ will also get the matte treatment, likely khaki and black. Krylon.
I've considered matte white since I live in the arctic circle, but it just doesn't look right to me. It also takes a lot more work to remove imperfections compared to darker colors.

Yes, you would have to seal it with some sort of a matte sealant. As far as white goes, yes I do agree with you that white shows more imperfections but black or a darker color would show the dirt more. I guess it's a give and take kind of thing. It's what you are willing to put up with I guess, and what kind of driving or recreational activities you do in your Jeep.

krd95xj, that looks sick man. When you say spray painted, did you have an actual spray gun/ compressor setup? Did you tape what you didn't want sprayed or did you remove the items?
That does really look cool though, I'm tired of having a shiny Jeep. All of my accents(e.g.- bumpers, fender flares, whees, etc.) are all matte. I just think it would look cool if everything that was matte. Good post.

You can dull down any paint by mixing flatener in the base coat or if you like mix it in some cheap clear. That way you have the body sealed against moisture and get the finish you like. In spring I'm going semi gloss orange and having a couple spray bombs loaded with the same color for touch ups. I tend to get scatches while out playing.

Right on BOOM-stick, orange should be an interesting color to work with. Are you going the same orange that is on the newer Wranglers? Or something different?
