I say this because it definitely was NOT clear to me that this is how it would operate. If anyone is as dumb as I am. Although it makes complete sense once it was said in this way to me.

I'll be following this pretty closely in this thread to see what the final numbers are of SeaVee and the install. I'm looking to get this same kit in the next couple of weeks and hopefully installed over a couple weekends in my spare time.

I'd suggest giving Dirk at DPG a call. I'm pretty sure his prices for ARB parts are more or less the same as elsewhere and he knows the parts really well. I'd expect most large resellers won't be able to tell you anything you can't figure out on your own from the ARB website.

The leafs that came with my 2.5" setup from DPG have 5 leafs and a smaller flat one on the bottom. I'll be taking one of the leafs out so I'm not sitting too high. If I end up adding permenant weight to the back, I'll add that leaf to keep things level. The coils I got aren't 2.5" lift coils. They're around 1.75 or maybe 2" with 1/2" or so spacers.

I'll post anything I learn this weekend along with before/after shots.

this is what I've learned from some research. Someone can correct me if I am wrong:

CS033RB leaf's are 3.5". remove one leaf and you get 2.5"

CS033RA leaf's are 4.5". remove one leaf you get 3.5"

2930 coils give you around 1.75".

2934 coils --listed as V8 grand Cherokee? give around 2.5"

as for the shocks--I cannot find any measurements. ARB says--"extended length shock are for 3" - 5" suspension lifts only. modified bump stops are required"

60052 front--regular
60053 rear--regular

60052L front--long travel or extended length
60053L rear--long travel or extended length

from what I can tell CS033RB leafs with one leaf removed, plus the 2934 coils and regular shocks should give you around 2.5".

CS033RB leafs with one leaf removed, plus the 2930 coils and a spacer (.75" ?) and regular shocks should give you around 2.5"

as for the 3.5" lift-- leaf CS033RA will get you 3.5" with one leaf removed. 2934 coils I would think would need a spacer. I would also think the longer shock would be needed.

also 3.5" lift in the rear with the CS033RB leafs with the full leaf pack, none removed

this is how I understand it. Obviously Dirk at DPG has the most knowledge. At least with this information you can make an educated decision on what parts you want, and what parts he is giving you with each lift package.

to me the variable is the shock. If you went for the CS033RB leafs with one leaf removed for 2.5", then you decide you want to go 3.5", can you add the other leaf in to make it 3.5" and still use the regular shock? or do you need the longer shock.

Mikesignal is right, but like he said, if you want someone who can give you definitive answers, then give Dirk a call. One of the nicest guys I've talked to, and he has plenty of experience! He'll be able to answer all your questions as well as give you examples from his own experience.

The 2930 coils and 1.75" spacers come with the 3.5" kit. Not a huge fan of spacers, but I'll upgrade to larger coils in the future.

Snajo, for the LCA's, I'm personally going with JKS when the time comes, and Dirk will be the guy I order them from. I don't have the experience, but JKS makes GREAT stuff! Just wait till you get their disco's and you'll know!

If you're unsure if OME is the way you want to go, give Dirk a call and I doubt you'll be unsure anymore.

I found this information in an old thread on NAXJA for OME N35-N35L, and N36-N36L shocks. I'm almost positive they are discontinued. It would not surprise me if the 60052-60052L, and 60053-60053L shocks are the same length. Like I said before, it would be nice to know prior to purchasing if the regular shocks can be used if one decides to go from 2.5" to 3.5". I don't think there is much of a price difference, if any at all, between the two. DPG only lists the long travel shocks on the 3.5-4.5 super ultimate lift. The 3.5 ultimate lists sport series shocks, so one would think you could use the same regular shock on 2.5 and 3.5.
I have also linked below to serious offroads website for Bilstein shocks listed by lift height for comparison on length. Not sure if that is comparing apples to apples, or apples to oranges. I don't know that much about correct shock length for lift height.

OME N35 Front shocks 23.75" open 15.25" closed
OME N36 Rear shocks 22.25" open 13.50" closed

OME N35L front shocks 26.7" open 15.7" closed
OME N36L rear shocks 24.5" open 14.6" closed

hey guys! I was recommended from salad an old man emu set for for what. I thought I would come here for advice; and to see what kit is right for me. hope you guys can help.

this is basically a copy of text I want over from the lift and tire thread.

I want Advice for a newbie on a 99 XJ RWD! So guys I plan on doing a lift/wheels/tires to my car within the next 6 months or so. Ive already decided to go with 16 inch moab wheels and decided on the tire size at 245/75/16 which are gonna the BFG AT K/Os. very classic look to it

Ive decided that the lift size I want will be anywhere from 2-3 inch lift especially with the tire size I decided to plus I wanna keep the MPG as close as is, as possible. Now I don't know really to much about brands and quality of them. But here are the goals I want to achieve with the lift! Hopefully you guys can chime in

1. Smooth ride! this is my DD. I live In Florida, so 97% of the time I'm gonna be on the road/highway, doing errands around town and things of that nature. So I want very smooth drive most importantly.

2.Reliability! I plan on this being my first/last lift to the vehicle. I don't really mind spending the money and doing it the right way the first time and getting right. Sometimes cheap can be expensive. So not saying I need a $1600 emu kit, but have no issue paying upwards of around 1000 bucks or so.

3.Excellent suspension! but thinking about it more when it comes to off road capability. I wont be doing anything crazy as far as mudding or going over crazy giant rocks or anything like that, more so really just beach and just light to mild trails worst thinking back to it.

So that's it really! I'm most importantly keeping a classy look look to the jeep!

now I did see lift kits which seem to be perfect at 2.5 inch

http://dpgoffroad.com/products/2-deluxe-xj-kit/$999

http://dpgoffroad.com/products/22-5-...mu-hybrid-kit/$1339

so going of that info I gave you. Do I really need that extra components to justify the price difference? or maybe there are parts in each that I need and don't need to get the lift I'm going for. Like would I need Tie rod bars on top or control arms or things of that nature. Sorry if I'm asking obvious questions. I'm just not to knowledgeable when It comes to these type of things. also would my tire size go fine with this lift (245/75/16? I want 30" tire so I was wondering if that a good size to go with as well? thanks again!

I would just get the 2.5 basic economy kit. The deluxe is a good deal but you won't need the disconnects. or just call dirk tell him you want to go 2.5 with a 2wd. he'll tell you what you need. I'm not familiar with the 2wd front end.

IMO you will need to replace the rear leafs with CS033RB leafs--remove one leaf from the pack to get 2.5

as far as the front if you have coils you will either need to replace them and/or add a spacer to match the lift in the back

and you will need new shocks

30" tire will be perfect for a 2.5" lift, you could probably fit a 31" if you don't flex, if you wanted too. Your MPG will probably slightly decrease with a 30" tire and small lift, but not too bad. Just remember, you can never have too many parts, haha. Even if you never disconnect the swaybar, the JKS quicker disconnects will be longer and keep the swaybar level at that lift height. The deluxe kit comes with everything you will need.

The only things additional you might have to do is, relocate your rear brake line bracket and possibly re drill your track bar axle mounting bracket to keep everything centered. Not sure at the lift height though.

But remember, more important than a nice lift kit is maintenance. Make sure all your fluids, tie rod ends, ball joints, U-joints, steering stabilizer, steering box brace, brakes and wheel hub bearings are still in good shape. If there are any worn components, it will just be exacerbated by even a slightly larger tire/wheel combo.

Much, Much appreciated! I will go with the deluxe edition as you suggested! especially for $1000 seems like at great deal for what I need. thanks for the great advice. Another quick question. Will this make my ride queit? I dont want a loud ride with this. will I need other parts to make quiet or am I totally fine with the kit itself to achieve this? What do mean by fluids? like break fluid. what other fluid would I need to check? Also, one last thing how can you determine wether you have a 8.25 chrylser or a dana 35? that would be the only info I need left! thanks again BTW

What do you mean make your ride quiet? I have the 2.5" lift with BFG A/T 30x9.5x15 tires and its a nice comfy ride compared to my stock 01 XJ with BFG A/T 235/75R15. As some tires wear they will become noisier and harder riding. C8.25 has a straight flat bottom and 3" axle tubes. D35 will have a rounded bottom and 2.5" axle tubes. Be advised that pinion angles will change with a lift and you will likely need to buy shims. With a lift your front axle will be pulled to the left though you may not notice. An adjustable track bar is used to center the axle. Also, the lift will rotate the front pinion. Adjustable lower control arms can be used to correct this (5/16" adjustment to restore geometry) but again you may not notice.

my mistake to clarify. but I think you just answered my question anyway! I meant to say as quiet/smooth as the ride I have now with my stock suspension/tires. I currently have 235/75/15 with the stock suspension and its a great ride, so this is very nice to hear. Oh okay I see now. this is great information for me as far as the axles go. I'm finally starting to understand some of this stuff now. Thanks a lot! very appreciated!

Looks like Monday now for my install. Someone asked about what was in the kit: 2930 front coils, 60053 and 60052 Nitrocharger shocks, and leafs that are marked CS033RB. Not sure if I need to remove a leaf or not.

Bummer, i have an OME lift now, but its a light duty lift and my new rear bumper/tire carrier has lowered my rear end. so thinking of just upgrading, not sure i can justify spending the 1400 dollars for that "ultimate" lift, vs the quadratec lift for 850-900 dollars.

Did you order the 2.5" kit or the 3.5" kit?

Shackle relocation brackets and maybe 1" lift shackles would have you sitting pretty right again (depending how much the bumper dropped it). If the leafs are good, don't buy new ones!
