Smile Rear taillight wiring puzzle. Aftermarket housing and lights.

Hello. I would appreciate any help or direction on how to properly wire the lights that came with these aftermarket housing units I purchased from Affordable Offroad. No complaints with them except they didnt provide any direction on how to rewire the lights correctly. I have added the picture of the factory wiring and lights along with several pics of the after markets lights and wiring harnesses. I need to know which stock wires to connect to the after market wiring. The last pic is of the stock housing and wiring. Again, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I take it you have a signal/brake filament and tail filament in one bulb?

Hmmmm. That looks suspiciously like a trailer wiring adapter module. Probably because it IS a trailer wiring adapter module.

These are used for connecting a trailer that has a shared stop/turn signal bulb to a vehicle that has a separate red stop and amber turn signal.

So, are we to assume you are replacing the stock rear lighting housing, which has a red stop bulb separate from the amber turn signal, with an aftermarket that has only a shared stop/turn signal? Why on earth would you want to provide LESS useful information to other drivers? That's taking a step BACKWARDS!

In any case, the wiring is spelled out on the module, as seen above. Connect the car side to the existing Cherokee wires as indicated, and the "trailer" side to your new module. If you are asking us to tell you what color to attach to what color, you probably shouldn't be doing this. Everything you need to know can be figured out with a test light in about 60 seconds.

Yes, is this a problem?

That's why you need the converter.

No, just confirming what that converter is. Generally there is one that covers both sides. Since your signals run off a separate bulb on the XJ then to eliminate that extra bulb you need one of those converters. They generally are used with running trailer lights. But both sets of wires feed into them and you end up with two less wires going to the bulbs. It automatically blends brake light and signal functions

The yellow wires in and out of that convertor have been cut off. How do you intend to use it like that anyway?

I went back to their website and found the instructions. All good! They work and look great. The yellow wire was NOT needed in this set up.
