Default Renix TPS differences (auto/manual) ---HO swap

Why does the 4.0L Renix TPS have an extra connector for automatic transmissions (4 cavity square, only 3 wires). The 4.0L HO TPS does not have an additional connector for auto trans....what information is the Renix TPS supplying to the TCU/ECU, and where does the HO TCU/ECU getting this info?

I'm swapping a complete 95 HO/AW4/231 into my 90 XJ, and am intrested in trying the TPS cut/splice [https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f51/re...ts-easy-47578/] instead of adapting the Renix TPS [http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1003642]. I may end up adapting the TPS, but I need to satisfy my curiosity about the extra connector on Renix TPS. Thanks!

The engine side of the TPS works opposite of the Trans side of the TPS on Renix.

The HO TPS works the same way for both engine and trans and therefore only has one connector and side.

In a nutshell, when they switched to the HO, they made the TPS work as the trans side did, eliminating a connector.

You will need to adapt a Renix TPS to the HO if going the route you're thinking of.

There are other options though.
