Searched, couldn’t find: ‘89 injectors
I sent an email to the forum member here who sells reconditioned injectors, but haven’t heard back. Subsequent searching suggests he may not be supplying them any more…
Looking for a reliable source for new or reconditioned injectors for my ‘89 Renix.
Thank you!

Or these? I’ve read they are the current recommendation.
I’ve been quoted $172 for a “refurbished” set, so for another $50 or so for brand new doesn’t bother me.

I'm sorry to tell you cruiser54 passed away recently. He is sorely missed, but his knowledge is still here on the forum and his site: http://cruiser54.com
I installed the Bosch 746 injectors in my 90 XJ about 8 years ago. Great improvement. I found a reconditioned set on eBay for a reasonable price. They are common in Volvos too, if you want to hit the scrap yards. The '89 is a unique platform, Renix, only ran from 87-90. The injectors commonly used on the later year XJs aren't quite right for the Renix jeeps. Here is a thread discussing injectors for the Renix jeeps from back then: Renix Injectors
When looking for information on your jeep, put 'Renix' in the search bar as there is a lot of specific information for those years. Also, read through cruiser54's site for tips on how to get that jeep more reliable and running smoother.

To follow up with this, I purchased the new 823 injectors. They cost $270 for six. I didn’t really shop around for the lowest price, I purchased from a company I’m familiar with and have been happy with. FCP Euro. Didn’t want to chance it with an unknown.
Installed this afternoon. Runs like a top, but it ran well before. I had symptoms that coincided with a leaky injector(s), which were refurbished 746s installed about 8+ years ago. Drastic fuel pressure drop over 1/2 hour of shutting down, hard starts after running it and shutdown for 1/2 hour or more, these starts needing some throttle and including a strong fuel odor.
I’ll keep an eye on fuel consumption and if my symptoms go away.
RIP Cruiser54
Peace to all🤙🏻

Cost new about $100 more than a set of six refurbished ones and only a few dollars more than a set of new 746s… right now I have the $ so I pulled the trigger. Dimensionally identical to the 746s that were in there. Between that and new spark plugs, distributor/rotor it’s running really well, though not entirely sure it remedied the hard start when hot condition…
Time will tell.

What is your hard start issue when hot? If the motor cranks over slow, then it is likely early signs of the starter failing.
Or if it just doesn't want to start, do you still have the ballast resistor for the fuel pump hooked up? Ballast Resistor, here is a post with some information on the ballast resistor. They are known to cause issues, I bypassed mine years ago.

It starts fine after sitting overnight. Runs fine but stumbles a bit off idle if I blip the throttle, perhaps at all temps but definitely when cold. Upon restart after it sits for a half hour or so (or more) after getting it to operating temp I will crank it over a few times, usually will slowly rough start but lately I’ve gotten it to start first try if I open the throttle a bit, in which case it starts rough with a fuel smell, smoothes out quickly and runs fine.
I haven’t driven it a ton since the injector and spark plug swap. Plugs looked consistent, and good but had 16k miles on them and it showed.
Fuel pressure test prior to injector swap showed good initial pressure and while running, but after shutdown it bled off considerably within a half hour. Went from indicated 30psi to maybe 5psi. I have not checked psi since the injector swap. Will do that today.

Update. No change in fuel pressure test. At prime around 37psi, running 29-30psi. After shutdown climbs to 37-ish, then slowly drops down to 5psi in appx 1/2 hour.
Startup after sitting for 1/2 hour no change. Primes to 37psi. Took some cranking and it slowly started up, rough at first but quickly smoothed out, idles great.

Sounds like you found the problem. Try cycling the key a few times prior to engaging the starter to prime the system more thoroughly. If that 'fixes' the hard start issue, then I would probably do that going forward. Tracking down why it is bleeding pressure off may be a real headache.

If the pressure is leaking down to a point air is allowed to enter the line, then even with good pressure after primed you may have an air pocket in the line. It would take a moment for that air to be pushed out the injectors when starting. Try cycling the key multiple times if two doesn't do it.
