Shock question
I need new shocks all around, and something that came to my mind is lift height.
Should I buy shocks that are meant for 2.5 inches of lift? I’m asking because I keep seeing listings for shocks that say “for up to 1.5 inch lift” and so on.
Would I be just fine buying OE shocks, or should I go ahead and buy shocks that are meant for my lift height?

I figured as much. I found some from Quadratec that I really like, and the reviews say they ride like a dream. They have them in 2-3 inch lift, so it looks like those are the ones i’m gonna buy.
I’m also pretty sure the shocks on my XJ right now are really cheap OE shocks, cause there isn’t any branding or anything, and my XJ rides like ****

If its lifted itl probly always ride like ****.
Bilstein 5125s after cycling suspension to figure out shock lengths. Light valving for short arms heavy valving for long arms on less lift.
If 4-6" is still go lighter valving because arms are pointing at the ground causing harsh ride rd bumps are translsted through arms into body instead of more directly to shocks. Why lighter valving on short arms and tall lifts.

JK Rubicon take off shocks are perfect for this setup. The LJ might work as well.
Usually find them for $50 or free.

Another thing you could do would be to measure your current shocks at ride height (only measure them at ride height) - then consider your new shocks overall compressed and extended lengths. The halfway point should be pretty close to your jeeps ride height shock length

Need to cycle suspension dont just guess it has 4" of up travel.
see it meausure it feel it. Dont cut corners
Post to eye adapters might help fudge shock points alittle if a length is close but not quite also gets the jeep into universal style mounts found in the offroad.
The jeep take off shocks are 8" travel and may work
bit 10" might be better.
Foa has theyre Dimension listed.
the guys at foa seem knowledgeable and would have shock valving ideas for your rig.
Ive been telling myself im going to order a set for awhile. Thinking about pulling the trigger on a set 2.5 resivor shocks for my ford. I wont buy less than 12" stroke shocks.
5" up trave and 6" down not quute 7 down due to setting up travel at 5" with a bumpstop on shock shaft.
5 up 7 down is ideal entry into a go fast set up or to jump side walks and curbs in town
