Default Tires for 18" rims in a 31-33" flavor?

Found a SMOKING deal on some factory aluminum 18" charger rims for $125 for all 4.Name: ImageUploadedByTapatalk1350496415.817623.jpg

I have 33" MTRs on my xj on 8" steelies (that I bought for $100 in college). I want some more mild mannered road tires, and happened across these rims.

What are good AT type truck tires that will fit an 18" rim and be in the 31-33" size. I think any smaller than 31" would look very rice. Best I can figure, a 265/70/18 comes out to 32.6"x10.5". What brands are your favorite.

Looks like Falken tires are pretty affordable in this size, ~150/tire. Do they suck *****? This isn't a dd.

probably havent gotten a response because no one wants to see these things on a cherokee. 18 is way too big for a cherokee unless your wanting to dub it out.

x2^^^

"I think any smaller than 31" would look very rice."

lol no, rice is 18's on a cherokee, leaving you with a coolness factor of zero.

but you do whatever you want cause its your jeep, you live in a free country, you can make up your own mind, and people can only point and laugh...they can't stop you!

you know thats really cheap, i would buy them, sit on them for a couple months, then try to make a profit.

He didn't ask for opinions on how it looks.

heres 20's on an xj

Id rock 18's under the right circumstances.

Plenty of people run 17's now, and those going with certain one ton swaps and whatnot are limited to 16.5's or larger anyway.

As for what tires to run, I havent shopped for 18" tires before. But i know it is a growing size so more options will surface as time goes on. If you like the looks of a tire and tread pattern ask about it. Chances are it will perform similarly to its smaller wheel size coutnerpart that people have probably run. Its hard to go wrong with any modern brand name tire nowadays anyway.

Yeah not too concerned about it looking rice. Besides, if I decide I hate them, there is plenty of room for profit. I could probably triple my money on them. Everytime I've seen them on a Cherokee with larger tires, I thought the looked good. But yeah not really concerned if people think they will look lame. I wanted a lighter, larger wheel for road tires, and would have preferred 17s, but these fell in my lap.

It should look ok for your street shoes IMO. I wouldn't do it myself but to each his own. And you can sell those rims for mucho $$ if you don't like it. I personally like to keep the rim diameter about half the tire diameter.

Here's 285/70 (32-11.50) tires on 16" wheels.

And my pickup with 305/65 (33-12.50) on 17" wheels.

Yeah I would agree that tire diameter should be double the rim diameter. I could probably justify 35s as long as it never saw dirt, but that would probably make it less streetable. I would have preferred some 17s, and maybe something not as shiny. But I think for "going out" shoes, they'll look good.

We'll see. It will prob be a while before I get any tires on these things. I'll definitely post up when I do whether it looks good or bad so everyone can see how good or ****ty 18s look.

I rock 17s. Not saying 18 is bad but kinda large on an xj. I dont really like rocking 17s...wanted 16s. But this may give you an idea. Oh and also...tires made for bigger rims are more expensive then tires for smaller rims...so youll end up paying for them

So i have another question not related to the rims, directly.

3 of the 4 have the tire pressure sensors on them. I have no need for them, and the PO mentioned they could be worth some money to the right person. Anyone know anything about these sensors, and could I sell them to the right person, like maybe on the charger forums?

new they run between $30 and $120 or so depending on the make/model. I doubt there is much of a used market for them. often they have to be programmed to the car as well.

You can just stick regular valve stems in the holes.
