Trai rate my Jeep 2001 XJ
2001 Cherokee limited with hitch bushwackers and teraflex 2" budget boost with rancho 500s. I Have brand new 30x10.5 tires.
I'm looking for powertrax front and rear lockers for around 525 each. the tires are new so I'm not planning on lifting it anymore.
just thought it would perform like a trail rated jeep with new differentials.

It's just a marketing scheme. Light research indicates some of their vague criteria.
"Full Size Tires"
4WD Low
Over 8" Ground Clearance
Rims Smaller Than 18"
Ability To Ford Water 20" Deep
Full Size Spare Tire
Skid Plates
Tow Hooks
Just add a T-Case skid to your stock XJ:

Stock Jeeps are awesome and some of us don't laugh at Trail Rated, I don't. I think it's pretty cool, I've had just as much fun off roading with my cherokee when it was stock vs. now. Mine had the UpCountry package with no sticker, wish it had the sticker now just for fun. In the past I had a 1996 with a round sticker on the back window lower left corner, I think it said off road rated.

i feel, if anything, an ONROAD RATING for our xjs would be more useful. they are inherently off-road capable, tremendously so with few mods. it seems i come across far more questions regarding road trip integrity. i see more “500 mile trip ahead, what preparation?” than “hitting the trails, what preparation?”. perhaps it’s just me.
i’m proud to say i trust my xj to take me anywhere the asphalt lays and many places it does not. i put an honest 20-25k miles a year on my xj, it does everything all the time.

My experience with XJs is pretty unique, I'm retired Special agent with the U.S. Customs Service. I had two different issued 1987 2DR XJs in my career. In 1987-88 the Service purchased a ton of them as a bail-out for Chrysler. It was pretty funny to see a whole bunch of XJs running around the desert. It was so apparent, we actually were asked if we were a test team.
Anyway, both of the XJs I was issued were bone stock, except for Goodyear Wrangler Radials we installed as soon as we got them. I can say I have had those XJs in some places I probably should not have been, but they never left me stuck. These were not specially equipped versions, but simply line 4WD vehicles off the lot.
There were things that would inherently go south on them, the weak motor mounts for one. I know I replaced more of those than anything. The ECM would occasionally get twitchy with them too. You would drive some where, stop, then get back in and it wouldn't start. Wait ten minutes, and it would fire up, then drive it to the shop to have a new ECM installed. I even started carrying an extra one in my XJ, but it never failed when I was in the field.
I will be the first to admit I was never crawling rocks with my agency XJs, but I did go some places that didn't have pavement much less actual roads. I now have a 1998 4DR XJ Sport. I have installed a 3" Rough Country lift, THOR cold air intake, Rock Hard Rear Bumper and tire carrier, Rusty's hidden winch front bumper, and a VR9000 Warn Winch. I've done other mods to make my XJ a very capable and reliable on/off road vehicle. Now would I say take it to the Paris to Dakar, no. But for running around the Mojave and southern Nevada, she does just fine.
