Winch bumper with frame stiffeners
Hello,
Long time lurker, first time caller.
I have a custom winch bumper I have built and i have frame stiffeners. Due to the sway bar, I'm limited as to how many bolts I can use to bolt the front bumper, only able to connect with 4 maybe 5 bolts.
I'm not gonna get rid of the sway bar for now so I'm wondering if 4 will be acceptable or should I connect with more.
thanks

A photo(s) of attachment points will do wonders in getting a good answer. 4 or 5 bolts total, or per side? What size and grade bolts? what will be bolts fastened too?
Two bolts total may work just fine if they is big enough, strong enough and attached well enough, but 30 bolts may not be if they is small, low grade, attached to weak stuff.
Also what load is your winch rated at? 1000 pounds, 6000 pounds?

Thanks for the reply
It would be 4-5 bolts on each side of the unibody / frame going through 1/8" welded stiffeners. Bumper is fully welded 3/16".
Includes the 3 original bumper bolts in grade 5, 1/2" for the front 2 on each side, 10mm 8.8 for the rear bumper bolt and the upper/front steering box bolt on driver side and 5/8"(?) on passenger. I could reach the bumper bracket back to a 2nd steering box bolt but it will take some work. I don't want to at this time if i can avoid it.
Installing an Apex 12000.
No pic Right now, will have to get later.

The problem is that the only hole that's sleeved on the passenger side is the rear-most hole. Without an internal sleeve to give the bolt something to tighten against, it's useless... You could eliminate the middle three and get the same strength on the passenger's side.
May I suggest Sway Bar Drop Brackets to give you room to run the rear-most bolts?

Thank you for the information.

10-4, that's what I was thinking.
I am working on bolting to the inside of the passenger rail so there is no crush.
I thought about these as well to strengthen:

but something doesn't seem right about bolting to that to the thin crossmember across the front.
Concerning the relocation brackets, I would love to, but the front axle of the rig is custom enough that it will take more than those to fix it. I'm planning to install a custom sway bar this winter so I just need to get it by for now.
