Default Zj seats in Xj

I found alot of conflicting info. I found front 98 ZJ grand cherokee seats. I own a 99 XJ. Do I have to swap frame rails? Not a big deal just wanted to know for sure. Also my seats are manual, the grand seats are power. If I have to swap to the manual frame will it even work? Or should I just connect the hot wire and ground to a battery and set it and forget it.

I have read that you just need to swap bases.
The bases between an ZJ and XJ are different.
This is for seats from a '94 but should shed some more light on it for you.

Yeah I've seen that write up. That's what I've been going off of. But I've also read the 95+ xj have the same mounting as ZJ bases so no need to swap frames. I guess I'll see after I get them.

Also alittle worried about adjusting the reclining function as it power on the zj seats. Just praying they are positioned correctly haha. Worse case I'll find the hot wire and position it the way I like and forget about it.

I don't think so cause I thought I read they changed the floor in the '97, maybe as early as '96, so the seats mount different.
Something to do with the air bags I think.
One thing is for sure. You will know soon enough once you unbolt one of the seats.
Just watch out for the 3 bolts in the XJ.

Haha thank god I just did the floor and dealt with that already. Had to drill out and tap a few already.

Oh and I found the thread
https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f67/zj-seats-xj-228236/

Changing the frames will take no time so it's not a big deal, and I've heard i will have to do so. But if I'm understanding that thread correctly people have successfully bolted them right in.

Just run a power wire to each seat, it's easy to do and you will have power seats, be sure to use a fuse.

I have 05 WK seats in my 95.

They changed the seat mounts in 95 to the new design. The Grand Cherokee seats bolt right to the XJ tracks. As for the recline function, the Grand Cherokee seats have a manual recline handle.

I have manual frames. That was what I asked earlier. I dont see how power GC seats retain functionality on a maual frame.

Since you have a 99 you can swap the seats in without changing the frames.

I have a 97 and run Tiburon seats. Anything is possible within reason. The brackets may need to be modified, but anything is possible

What???? This true? The WK seats are quite comfy although driver's seat always has the wear/cracking where you slide in and out of the seat. $100 for a new cover and good to go. If WK seats fit the XJ frames, I am going to the JY tomorrow! HA!

Well the frames were not the same and had to be switched. 98 ZJ Grand cherokee to 99 XJ Cherokee

These Grand Cherokee seats(98 Zj) have no manual recline. It is a powered recline.

So I think I have answered a few of my own question. As of right now I have the seats in on my manual tracks. Now even if I get powered XJ tracks for my rig, XJs didnt have a powered recline did they? If not, there will be no motor and even with powered tracks it will be useless for recline correct?
