ZJ Tie Rod Upgrade
Figured I'd share my ZJ tie rod upgrade with you.
Simple easy bolt on upgrade.
Get the following parts for a 95 Grand Cherokee with a V8
Moog part numbers
ES3096 Tie rod end (short) 21.99 @ Autozone
DS1312 Long tie Rod 34.99 @ Autozone
ES2097S Adjustment Sleeve 15.99 @ Auto zone
The Tie Rod end is MUCH thicker, The Tie Rod bar is thicker and Soild not hollow like the stock XJ one. When you put them side by side the XJ Tie Rod looks like a joke compared to the ZJ one.

Yes this will fit your XJ, it is a direct bolt on upgrade requiring no modifications.
The benefit is a stronger steering system. The stock XJ tie rod is a hollow tube, rolled from sheet metal and seam welded. While it may be perfectly fine for a daily driver that only sees light trail use, it will bend easily with moderate to heavy wheeling. I bent my stock unit the first time I took it off road. The ZJ V8 tie rod has larger diameter tie rod ends and is constructed of a solid piece of steel. It has a huge strength gain for off road use, especially with oversized tires.

Can we get an installed picture? I noticed that the ZJ tie rod bar is bent/curved vs. the stock XJ being straight and I'd like to see what the new setup looks like.
Thanks
Thanks

did you pull it from your local JY? i'm thinking about doing something like that this summer. is the tie rod and tracbar the only thing that will directly bolt onto an XJ?
