Global Announcement
09-04-2008 until 09-04-2030
PLEASE READ: UPDATED (2/3/2023) CherokeeForum.com Rules
REVISED (4/3/2023) CF Rules
__________________________
Family Friendly
1. We are a family forum and would like to keep it that way. Respect yourself as well as others. We do not tolerate threats and/or harassment. This includes, generational bashing (dropping "Ok boomer, etc...) and hatefully answering new members questions. (Yes, I understand that the same question has been asked repeatedly, but please just link them to the thread that contains the answer.)
*We have to do better than "You have Google and YouTube" or "Use the search". (Our search feature has SUCKED for MANY years now, so us Seasoned Members ARE the Search for new members) I don't care WHAT generation you belong to, if you ask me a question, I will give you the answer or point you to it. Humility goes a long way here.
Pictures
2. There will be NO nudity of any kind. This rule will result in instant deletion of post/thread and possibly further specific user punishment.
Censor
3. We have a censor in working order so use it. DO NOT get around the words that have been censored by using other characters such as 1 etc. When posting simply type in all the words that you wish to say and if they come up with asterisks then just let them be.
*A lot of the censor has been since lifted. Just try not to let every other word be F-bombs. We're all adults here, so let's be responsible.
Locked/Deleted/Edited Posts
4. If a moderator has altered a post/thread that you have made DO NOT publicly talk about it. If you have a question regarding a decision that has been made either PM myself or a member of the moderator team and it will be addressed. However once a decision has been made it is final.
*My (Outlaw's) signature clearly states "I have an Open Door Policy". This means I will approach and discuss ANY situation or concern you have, as long as you can act like an adult and use a level headed, respectful approach.
*I (roninofako) also take this approach, so fire away. Outlaw, cruiser54 and myself talk personally daily...we are a team here, and we all agree on things that happen here.
Illegal Activity
5. Do not talk about illegal activity on this forum. This includes, but is not limited to, the following: illegal drugs, wheeling, parties, and Internet use. CherokeeForum site staff will have the final word on threads and posts of this nature. Violators of this rule will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis.
*Refer to Rule #1
Moderators
6. DO NOT ASK ABOUT BECOMING A MOD. Moderators will be hand picked by the Staff of CF, based on your time with the site and your level of character, and then voted upon by the Staff of CF. If you ask to become one you will be remembered and left out of any future moderator voting.
Help Keeping The Forum Clean
7. Help us moderate CF by using the report post button. Use this button if you find a violation of any of CF's rules, please leave a short description of what has been violated to help the administration keep CF running smoothly.
Padding/Spamming
8. Do not pad or spam post. This includes posting continuous one word responses that do not pertain to the subject at hand. This also includes excessive advertising through out CF. No bumping of threads are allowed, this is considered as padding. Padding just clutters up the thread, making it more difficult for new members to find what they are looking for.
We will be editing these rules as time goes on and we feel more or less needs to happen with CF. We thank you for your understanding and we also encourage all to post in the suggestions section of CF with questions regarding our rules.
Copy Righted Material
9. You may only post material and content that you own unless it is a YouTube or other Social Media post/li k that helps to answer or instruct a members question.
IE: "How do I change XXXX part?!" You may post a YT video of a How-To. Just please give credit to who the video was from. IE: "Here's a How-To from IRO/RC/RE/(or any other channel).
Vendor Rules
10. Vendors are allowed to post their specials in the Vendor Showcase section of the site and ONLY in this section. Vendors are encouraged to post in all sections as long as their posts are appropriate, on topic and are helpful to other members.
*You may leave a link to your official site on a thread IF that part/parts ONLY pertain to what the member is asking about. IE: Don't post a link to your Tire Sale of the member was asking about Control Arms, etc...
Emissions Deletes
11) IF it's legal in your state and/or area, then that's fine. But remember it is not legal in all places. Please do not bash other members because they are required to have it by their local laws.
Disclaimer
12. Any vehicle modifications and repairs are performed at your own risk. Information presented on this website is contributed by the community members, and CherokeeForum makes no guarantees whatsoever that information shared will be safe or comply with applicable legislation. You are responsible for determining whether a modification to your vehicle is safe and complies with relevant laws in your area. CherokeeForum and its members will not be held liable in the event of citations, failed vehicle inspections, damage, etc.
*In other words, NO ONE HERE is liable or responsible if something breaks or doesn't work.
CLASSIFIEDS ADS
13. You are welcome to post classified ads here as long as you meet the following criteria...you must have a 10 post count minimum. Posts made in off topic do not count. There is ZERO time limit...for example...say you start a CF account, and never post...You cannot come back years later and post a "for sale" ad. CF classifieds are for contributing members ONLY. This is NOT your personal Craigslist, and we don't mind helping CONTRIBUTING members sell their vehicles or parts, but we won't tolerate joining, non participation, and expectation of selling on our site, meant for those that are here daily. Any threads doing so will be sent to trash, where staff will determine from there.
*EDIT* 10 posts is really not unreasonable. Look around, say Hi, help a fellow wheeler out. Who knows, you may end up finding a few new people to ride with after all is said and done.
***Note*** READ ME!!!!
Topics we do NOT allow are Religious and Political discussions, including "Identity or Sexual Politics". These topics do not turn out well and always cause heated issues, therefore we can not allow them to be discussed. There are plenty of forums available for such topics, please use those.
*POLITICAL/RELIGIOUS TOPICS: (this includes identity politics) Yes, it is OK for you to be religious. Yes, it is OK for you to follow a certain Political Party. Yes, it is OK to believe in and/or follow whatever life choice you have made. BUT...try to not post those discussions here. We are a JEEP Tech/Repair site, not a social experiment/recruiting site. (If in question of this reasoning, please review Rule #1).
**Please Note**
Posting on this site is a privilege not a right. As such your privilege to post on this site could be revoked at the sole discretion of the site staff.
These rules are basic guidelines and as such enforcement and interpretation is solely up to the site staff.
*Rules are always available to be discussed off the record and/or edited to reflect the changing times. I (Outlaw) have invested almost 20yrs in this site and will continue to do so, for the informational benifit of all members, until I pass the torch.
