greetings from colorado !!!
This isn't the first time ive posted on cherokee forum , but its been over 10 years !
this forum was such a huge help then and im hoping it to be equally as helpful for my restoration of my 1988 wagoneer limited XJ.
The jeep was purchased from an older couple that had owned it 16 years and purchased it from an 88 year old man @ 16k miles
I purchased the jeep @ 38k miles and am 3rd owner
my plan with the classic jeep is to restore/dust-off/replace things on the jeep so it maintains that beautiful like new look
overall the jeep is in like new conditon but there is a couple things id like to repair myself :
- some of the emblems are slightly starting to seperate from the body , its very minor
- change all fluids / filters , full tune up
- steering is very sloppy , prob needs some minor work
- idle is low and fluctuates at times
- couple rock chips , very minor scratches, touch up paint ???
- wood paneling in great shape but the wood trim that is above and below has very minor peeling in small areas
- wheels have minor pitting/corrosion
- surface rust on leaf springs and suspension components
- belt chirp at cold start , seems to be from PS pump
- removal of the original mud flaps and replace - options ?
- possibly remove the front bull guard
- clean the whole engine bay
- get all the old wax remnants off.. its a great sign when you see wax in every crevasse that the owners took great care of it. but.... its everywhere.. im going to scrub lightly with dawn dish soap and hopefully it will work its way out.... advice ? its going to take days...
other than those very minor things the jeep is stunning.. the interior is perfect !
im 100% open to any advice on how i should go about all these tasks..
this forum is an awesome tool and im very excited to be back !
thanks
glen
