Default 96 xj country

Hi wii,

Heading to Cape Cod to pick up a 96 xj with 257k. Jeep looks to be in great condition. Jeep originally from Virgina. He has maintained the jeep since 100k when he bought it 6 years ago.

This jeep will be for my son who just got his license. We are in Vermont. I am sure I will be on here quite a bit for advice. Thanks in advance!

Welcome. Nice looking XJ. Sags a little in the rear, but that sounds like a good project for the boy.

Yes, I noticed that from the pic. That will be on the to do list. Small oil drip from what looks to be the rms but will look from top to bottom to determine where it comes from.

jeep came with service receipts since new and it was well cared for with lots of new parts. Some recent pics

9 out of 10 times it's not the RMS but rather the oil filter adapter. Lots of good tutorials on here for replacing those seals.

looking back at his receipts of work, it looks as the the oil filter O ring had already been replaced recently. might have to buy some leak det dye to see where that leak is coming from.
