Question New Jeep owner looking for advice

I got a 2006 Grand Cherokee Laredo 4x4 , the 65th anny one and I'm looking to make it trail ready.

I've only had her for 3 days and I found out yesterday that I may need a new computer, took it to a Jeep dealership and they ran the codes and it came back with close to 30 bad codes most computer related. It sometimes won't start and when it does sometimes it doesn't register that you've shifted, like I put it in drive but it would barely go and I noticed that it still had Park highlighted on the dash. Needles to say I am super sad, I've dreamed of owning a Jeep since I was a little girl riding around in my dads wrangler, I found this forum and just wanted to see if any of you could offer me any advice or had experienced similar things and could point me in the direction of fixing it. I love this truck already, it is my baby and I want it to last forever but I have no idea what I'm doing and I worry that mechanics will see that I'm a chick and take advantage of me not understanding whats wrong with it and just get me to pay a ton for stuff I don't really need. I did have one mechanic tell me something like I could send the computer out to be flashed and see if that fixes some of it so I'm planning to try that, oh and she stutters around the 45 mph mark and on the night I got her I drove home almost 3 hours and about a half hour from home I tried to pass someone and as soon as I hit the gas to over take the car it was like I switched into neutral and the truck bogged down so bad I had to pull off the road and park.

I'm not really sure if this is where I should be asking but I stumbled upon this site when I was looking up stuff about my new love and thought why not give it a try. Once I know that my truck is salvageable and I get her running right I want to make her the perfect little trail riding monster so I'm hoping someone here will have some pointers on that as well. I'm hoping to get some of the Bushwacker style bolt on flares for her but so far it looks like they only come in 2004 or older and 2011 or newer for my model I plan to get a nice big brushguard, tail light cages and lightbar but I'd also like to find a swing away spare holder for the back hatch. I've never had anything but sedans and I really want to make her perfect, sorry for the wall of text that probably looks like nonsense to all of you experienced Jeep owners but I'm just a little over my head and was hoping for a little help.
