A while back, I purchased a RHD 1995, four door, four-wheel drive, 4.0, automatic Jeep Cherokee from an estate of a retired postal worker. It is not an import vehicle. It was ordered RHD from the factory for postal use in NJ. It had a trashed interior with missing or broken seats. It has rusted floorboards and rockers. It sat for so long that one wheel was locked up, and most of the doors and hood wouldn't open. With about 300K on the clock, it did not start, or want to start. The owner truly drove it for as long as she could. Along with the 1995, I purchased a 1990 four door, four-wheel drive, four door 4.0, automatic Cherokee that had been used for parts to keep the RHD on the road. It was missing parts and had evidence of animals living in it. There was no paperwork with it.

I know the 95 RHD shouldn't have been considered a candidate for a rebuild, but they are so easy to work on, I felt it was worth a try. I got it running and fixed the doors, hood and other mechanical issues. In NJ, 1995 and older vehicles do not require state inspection. It is registered and insured, but it is not safe enough to drive daily. It still needs rocker and floorboard repair, along with suspension and tires. The front seats form the 90 Jeep will not bolt into the 95, so I cannot use them without modification. The mirrors and windshield also need replacing. For now, it can be driven around the property for fun. I would like to give it a 3" lift and aftermarket bumpers.

Later, I found a 1995 four door, four-wheel drive, 4.0, manual Cherokee with a lift kit. It runs and drives, but needs some maintenance, and rust repair as well. I registered it, but never drove it on the road. I considered parting it out for the RHD, but decided to keep it, as it is rare to find a manual shift vehicle around here.

After that, a family friend sold me her 1995 two door, 4.0, automatic Cherokee. It runs too, but is only two-wheel drive, and has rust issues. I considered removing the front seats and some interior parts from this. I will likely scrap or sell the two door, along with the 1990 when I have enough parts removed for the RHD and manual Cherokees. The 1990 has no paperwork, so it is a little harder to sell to a scrapyard. My daughter needs new tires for her car, so I may end up scrapping the two door sooner than later.

I read a few forum posts and watched YouTube videos to help fix the RHD. I decided to join this forum. I will post pictures later. I figured, even if I never complete the projects, they are still cheaper as a yard vehicle then buying a new ATV.
