My 2016 Cherokee flat rows fine. However, once I get to my destination and follow all the steps to unhook, it doesn’t want to start as it says it can’t see the key fob.

If if I press the brake and keep pressing the Start button, it will sometimes start (allowing me to move it out of the way at an RV park) but it can’t be locked or accessed with the fob. I’m hesitant to drive anywhere as I’m not sure I can get it restarted.

Generally, I also get the check engine light.

The solution I’ve found is to disconnect the positive terminal on the battery for 60 secs or more. Once reconnected, the fob is seen and the ck engine light is out.

Jeep installed the Mopar flat tow equip and I religiously follow the recommended steps for setting it into idle and back.
