Default 2014 jeep Cherokee

I have 2014 jeep Cherokee, I had parked in slop in the drive way, my light turn on saying “4wd service” I thought okay maybe I may need my oil to be even right, no it was still on and still drivable. Moral of the story, I took it dealership they say it’s something electrical in my transfer case, has anyone have this issue? My miles on my vehicle is about 58,000 close to 60,000 has anyone has a issue? How much did you pay? Do I expect more issues?

I have a 2019 Jeep Trailhawk and my service 4wd light is on. The dealership is telling me that because my tires are worn. Sounds a little fishy to me. They have already replaced the rear differential twice. I think they are giving up.

I really doubt its the tires unless the front or back tires are drastically worn compared to the other end. Is it popping up this message as soon as you start the car? Check the fuse(s) for the power transfer unit (#10) and power take off (#14). If the PTU fuse is blown or removed you'll get that error. https://fuse-box.info/jeep/jeep-cher...x_Diagram_2019

If they're on the third try for a warrantied item, you might be within the lemon laws for your state.

So the dealership is telling me that my r/r tire is 1/8 inches smaller than the rest of the tires. They are wanting to place a new set of tires on it and take it on a test drive to see if the light comes on. I’ve never heard of such a thing.

Does the light come on immediately at startup or after driving a bit? Swapping tires sounds like a reasonable approach if they've eliminated everything else. I would expect the diagnostics to show some sort of code indicating that a size mismatch was detected though, but maybe not. Something isn't right if one tire is worn significantly more than the others. Maybe a bum tire, or the brake is dragging on that side or an alignment issue?

Check the fuse(s) for the ptu. You will get this message if they are blown or removed.

You can also get this error if one of the wheel speed sensors is bad, but I think you'll also get an error about traction control, abs, or cruise too.

I have 2019 Cherokee Trailhawk with the 4WD needs service msg. It has 45K miles. Removed and checked fuses F10 and F14, both good. Charged battery that is only 1 yr old. Could not put into neutral for flat towing, Had to drive it home from MO to TX. I have code reader and with msg showing on dash, no error codes logged. Erased with code reader and still have msg on dash. Can't find anymore more help on line. Looks like dealers just through parts at the problem. Not under warranty so dealer last place I want to go. Anyone fix this problem on their own?

My Jeep was Under Warranty. 60K/5yr power train. Dealer replaced PTU and RF axle. It appears this is going to be a continuing issue with Cherokee Trailhawk. I was trying to find out about changing differential fluids and transfer case fluid. Dealer wants @$550 to do this. Couldn't get the dealer to tell me if PTU which they changed and had to add fluid and the transfer case are the same unit. I need to remove rock shield to see transmission, PTU, front differential (if there is one) and transfer case (if there is one). Different on-line posts say 2 differentials and transfer case. Also give different fluids to use. Nothing in owners manual about fluids. I bought Hayes Jeep Cherokee 2014 through 2019 book. Totally useless. Chrysler wants over $200 for repair manual and another $175 for electrical manual. Does anyone know a good maintenance manual for a 2019 Cherokee Trailhawk?

Hey! Quick question because I am dealing with the same thing. Was it error codes C14A7-97 and C1440-64? They replaced my PTU the first time and said the error code went away when they test drove it after the repair. When I came and picked i t up. Within a mile of the dealership the 4wd Service light came back on. Now they are saying I need to bring it back in and willing to waive the 200 dollar deductible. Is that because that C1440 code is for the rear which their now telling me is it's own little issue?

Our light came on and it was a month before a Jeep dealer an hour away was able to look at it. It has been there for a week! They wouldn’t give us a loner either. Still no conclusion other than it is under warranty. Dragging their feet is an understatement. We are completely frustrated with this experience.

my car doesn't have the fuse could this be the cause of getting 4wd not available and check engine ? do you recommend to add the fuse?

What year do you have, and it is a regular Cherokee and not a Grand Cherokee. Might be a different fuse number. I assume this started recently? How old is the battery and have you checked that the battery cables are clean and tight?

I have a 2014 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk 3.2 4WD and I have this issue that comes and goes check engine first and 4WD not available and push for gas won't go as normal but it drives so what I do to go back to normal I will stop turn the engine and wait 2 minutes and turn it back on and it drives normal but the check engine still on. This happens on and off every two week or so I went to autozone and have them look at the code and it shows the camshafts sensors so which were replaced. Few weeks after same error; I read few of the comments that it could be the fuse so I looked at the box and it there was no fuse for the PTU, is this something I need to add or without it is fine? Any suggestion greatly appreciate it cause I didn't take it to the dealer yet since the wait is 5 days I found that ridiculous, please advice!
thank you Sean
