Cross Bars for the new Cherokee
Ok, I lied, here is another post............
When I got my used 2017 Trailhawk it had cross bars.
They looked really sleek. They were flat arrow bars,
and they looked factory. Not like the Thule or Yakima
'"fit all" kind, with the bars ends hanging out past the rails.
They had a lever that adjusted the clamps on the rails,
and then locked in place. But the lock mechanism used
a special tool which I didn't have. So, I began searching
the Internet for the maker, and found them. But no one
sold the locking tool or the little round lock which I also
needed one of. And I found out they were not even for
the Cherokee, but a Rav4. And, they are only about
$50 on ebay. So I just bought a whole new set, and will
keep the old ones for parts.
The clamp isn't exactly big enough to go around the whole
side rail on the top,but it grips really well.
The previous owner had a 3x4 foot cargo basket on the bars,
(which is now mine) and it seems like a very sturdy setup.
P.S. I went to a Jeep dealer and there are no factory crossbars
for the Cherokee. They sell the Thule bars......................
