Default Want vinyl/rubber instead of carpet. Any reviews?

Good morning.
Got this 88 Comanche 2.5 for my son and was wondering if any of you have installed vinyl or rubber floor coverings instead of going back with carpet?
I DON'T want to go the bed-liner route, but also don't want to have a bad rubber smell either.

Any Vendors out there that sell molded vinyl flooring?

Thanks E

A lot of us have them. Its honestly just like carpet, only easier to clean.

if you can find an old service cherokee in the scrap yard, they all pretty much had vinyl flooring. then just cut it to fit the comanche.

you may be able to find a piece on ebay.

You'd be better off buying it new...most of these vehicles are over 20+ years old and to just pull the carpet out may tear the vinyl....
It doesn't have the rubber smell and I've had it over a year now and plenty of parts/dirt/gunk on them and they just whipe off....

I've had it in Several work trucks and heavy equipment, Never installed it from NEW though.
But really wanted to know if after installing the vinyl, (the ones that did it themselves) if it had a smell that was just too overpowering? I've sat in new vehicles that still had plastic all over the seats and such on the lot, sitting in the sun and MAN, you get blasted with the smell just opening up the door.
I've been on a few sites that offer it and the reviews usually say that it takes time for the smell to die down.
(I know my son couldn't handle it. He can't handle my wife's Scentsy stuff either.. Well, me and the rest of us too)

WhiteComanche: Is that what you're installing 'molded'? Or did you have to use a spray adhesive and stretch it?
Also, did they give enough to go up past the peddles and a little up the back wall?
Did you use any vapor barrier
I did find a 01 Silverado in a pull it that had the thin rubber mat, but it was molded and thought I could make it work, but decided against it.

I've got 3 trucks to do and just don't want to be smelling rubber each and every time I get into a vehicle.

No it's not molded and it had more than plenty to reach up the pedals and cut...
Never had to put any chemicals (instructions say to lay it out in the sun for 8+ hours but the time I installed it it was dark and gloomy and it still fit perfect...with time Itll mold into the floor..)
I dd my comanche and never smelled a rubber smell....maybe it's me and I ride with the windows open so it may have aired out the smell fast...barely notice it on hot miami days 90+ degrees and 100% humidity...
