Default Speakers only work when headlights are on!

So yea i installed a boss stereo in my 95 xj. The stereo powers on fine, but my speakers only work when the headlights are on...

Originally i thought maybe i had the constant power and power switch wires backwards. But after triple checking everything is wired up right.

So from my head unit the red wire goes to the Violet/White and the orange wire goes to the Pink wire. I followed the wiring diagram to a T! I tripled checked every speaker wire, fuse, etc.. I'm super confused. Please somebody save me..

Thank you!!!

I know it’s been a bit since you posted. I just sold a radio to a girl who was having the same issue. She said she replaced the headlight switch and now it’s fine. There must have been an internal short in the switch or something.

I'd say you connected the illumination wire in the wiring harness. You lose the illumination (screen dimming) support for the radio with an aftermarket radio (you have to control the illumination level of the radio screen independently from the headlight switch once you install an aftermarket radio), so you may as well disconnect and tape off that wire in the harness and see if that fixes your issue.
