I really don't think that it would be worth it -- other than saying you did it. I feel as though it would be better to get the rods and crank from a 258 AMC and make a 4.5l stroker; they have much better off idle TQ and, in stock form, still, have more HP than a 318, too! I love the 318 dearly, but don't think they do well for wheeling. If I was to go to a V8, then it would be a 360. Or, you can take a 318 and use a 360 crank with the journals turned down and make a 344; or bore 0.060 for a 355. As for transmissions: I would go with an NV4500 from a GM and use an adapter plate. The 6.34:1 first gear is an awesome thing! Coupled with a 4:1 T-case, this is unreal!
