You talking for a '91 like your profile says or a '97 and up like in your picture? I am just guessing here but according to Napa the temp sensor itself fits all years '87 to '01. So I am kinda thinking that you could get that front wiring from a '97 and up in the boneyard and it will work. Every Jeep that I have seen has that wiring without a temp sensor when there is no overhead console. Including my '00 that I am going to install an overhead console in that I picked up.

I'm looking for a 91. My Cherokee may have that cable or not, but need the sensor. I have 1 cable left that needs plugged in somewhere, Will get image later. The rest plug in and the lights come one but no temp readings or compass. This plug may even be the security for the dome key fob but I know I didn't get the sensor that all the over console threads said to get while pulling one out of a Cherokee.

In my '00 the wiring is dead center underneath the radiator. Can see it from underneath. Impossible to miss. See Post #4.

The sensor itself looks like this:
https://www.napaonline.com/napa/en/p...012_0240771530
If you click on the Buyer's Guide at that Napa page you can see every car that has one in it. I stole mine from a Sebring in the boneyard.
Now how this relates to a '91 I do not know but since it runs the same sensor........

I cleaned the overhead console and put on new fabric and waiting for a roll of matching fabric to come in to do the entire headliner since it was falling down. The red cable is the only one left that havn't found a plug in for it. this is part of the overhead console wire harness. The last 2 wires were always unplugged even when I bought the Cherokee. So it may have been for power locks or something.

I think I found it. After looking through my factory manuals, I found it coming out of the fuse box where their all suppose to come out. It is really just missing the extension cord to go out under the bumper. So I need the extension cord and sensor. It even shows in graph it comes out then into a extension cord.
Also found that the red end wire earlier was for the security system.

So I checked my '97 and '00 part catalogs. They do not show a part number for the extension. Least not that I found. I can see where the temp sensor is in the illustration of the wiring for the front but can't be sure if it is a separate piece like yours or just one big harness. Will try to go look at my '00 today and see what I see for you. Cause like I mentioned earlier I just figured you could steal one from a '97 and up. Looks like usual I was wrong. Thinking even if it is not a separate harness you could steal that section and with a little creative wiring get it too work.

Finally crawled under the Jeep. I can't tell. Need a second person up top see what wiring I am pulling on below. But thinking more that it is not a separate harness like in yours.

Well I have a 1996 complete with computer and OBDII reader wire harness and I followed it and it is one complete cable. So as I found out with all my wiper motors and other wires, Mine still uses all the old 80s AMC stuff of the Cherokee. only thing Pentastar Chrysler on my Cherokee is just stickers and such and glass, All of the panels and some stickers have the A.M.C. and the AMC logo on them. When I tried to replace my wiper motor I got one out of a 1992 since it was one year newer then mine. It didn't fit, Chrysler changed it to a oval shape snap together when the AMC was a complete circle plug. So I had to get one from a 1988 and it fitted and worked.
Other then that. My fuse blew and found it was the dome lights fuse. (lower interior lights / radio / dome lights didn't work) The fuse is red and has a 10 on the top. Is their a bigger fuse I should get since it is handling 5 dome lights now and not 2 and the compass / temp reader plus the security dome reader not that it is plugged in or setup to work.
Also found this out. I found it on another site somewhere but when I plugged in the overhead console the lights come on but not the temp/compass reader. Even after I put on the brand new temp reader. ( Just plugged it on the end of the short cable for now) Their is what I see 3 burnt boxes, not sure what they are called.

I went ahead and cleaned the entire board down for the overhead console temp compass reader. I see that their is a small light bulb under the reader with a small tip stuck out at the bottom. I am trying to see of removing it since it maybe burnt out and needs replaced and also maybe the reason no numbers coming up.

Does anyone know of a place like on ebay that can fix the compass/temp board? I want to get the overhead console installed so it isn't laying around. Its been laying out for over a year. I would put it in but its a pain to install. If I could install it and still able to take the board out when ever then I would install the console, but have to take it down to take out the board.

I looked on ebay and I found a repair for it now. Last time all I found was for Fords.
