unhooking main wire harness through firewall
94 XJ, trying to remove the dash WITHOUT cutting the harness.
I removed the 2 torx bolts holding the fuse block on,, I see 1 bolt (center of the connector) coming from the engine bay side.
There is ZERO, ZILCH access on the engine bay side. The shock tower blocks the front, the brake booster and anti-lock pump cover the top, the bolt looks to be recessed. I have no idea how to "unhook" this connection.

If I remember correctly, its like a 6 or 7mm and you have to use a small socket and ratchet with no extension. Pain in the *** but it isn't too time consuming

PIA,,, understatement.
It was a 1/4" socket. used a 1/4 drive, very short extension. it took 15-20 min to get the socket on there. Then about 10 min to back the bolt out,,,,, 1 click at a time.

There is no long extension (no mater how many swivels you use) getting up in there.
Now that I have done it, I could do it in 10-12 min.
for the engineers to "recess" that bolt is idiotic, if the had just made the bolt about 3/4" longer so you could SEE the head, instead of buried deep into the connector.

Just upgrade my fuse box last month fit right in on mine. After socket I installed a 3/8 to 1/4 adapter then 18 inch 3/8 extension spun right out. Not having abs might be the difference.
